Selective Engagements

Some conversations are worth taking further. When the fit is right.

Most of my work today happens through The Long View - writing and speaking about time, leverage, judgment, work and the patterns that become visible when we widen the frame.

Occasionally, an idea, challenge or opportunity leads to a conversation where that perspective can be useful.

Ways to Engage

A few ways the conversation continues.

I'm selective about the work I take on. The common thread is usually a situation where experience, distance and a wider perspective can add something that isn't already in the room.

01

Speaking & Conversation

Talks and facilitated conversations built around the ideas explored in The Long View, HyperLeverage, and four decades of building, advising and observing what happens after decisions are made.

02

Advisory

Occasional work with owners and leadership teams facing an important decision, transition or opportunity - particularly when stepping outside the immediate problem can change how it is understood.

03

Podcasts & Media

Conversations about business, work, judgment, leverage, careers and the ideas behind The Long View.

The Approach

Widen the frame. Then see what changes.

I've spent enough time building businesses, advising leaders and living with the consequences of decisions to know that the obvious problem isn't always the real one.

Sometimes the useful contribution isn't another answer. It's a different question, a longer time horizon, an overlooked resource or a connection that wasn't visible from inside the situation.

That is the perspective I bring to the work I choose to take on.

The Right Fit

The right fit matters.

I'm not building an advisory practice or looking to fill a calendar. I am open to a limited number of speaking, advisory and media opportunities where there is a genuine fit between the question being explored and the perspective I can bring to it.

The best conversations usually begin with people who value candor, curiosity, practical experience and a willingness to look beyond the obvious answer.

If you'd like to reach out

Tell me a little about the question, opportunity or event, why you think my perspective might be useful, and what you're hoping the conversation might accomplish.

The Long View

Start with The Long View.

The best way to understand how I think is through the writing. The Long View explores leverage, judgment, work, society, experience and the decisions that reveal themselves differently over time.
